Fay Nicolson is an artist concerned with creative exchange. Working across painting, printmaking, drawing and performance, her practice possesses a distinctive fluidity — at once playful and knowing. Recurring motifs — limbs and gestures, patterns and ripples — are gathered, translated and repeated across her surfaces. The artist looks to weaving as a metaphor for her process: separate elements are handled, twisted and combined to produce images capable of being unravelled and reformed.
